Origami Ceramic Ink
Independent research, with assistance from Ph.D. student Lilly Balderson and Prof. Tao Sun
As a student researcher in Tao Sun’s additive manufacturing lab, I conducted independent research on novel flexible ink compatible with previously intractable high-temperature ceramics. I experimented with 2D and 3D forms, pushing the limits of the material’s mechanical properties and geometries. Challenges included fine-tuning the ink formulation, standardizing ink creation and printing parameters, and maximizing part density and ink rheology. I presented my results at the 2023 Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium at UT Austin.
